About the course
Practice based and addressing the development needs of people new to dental education and training as well as those with experience, this flexible course combines study days, workshops and master classes with remote access online learning.
It is designed to appeal to all dental professionals who are engaged in education or training in primary or secondary care settings.

This course enables you to develop and evidence your competence as a dental educator. It combines face-to-face, online and practice-based learning opportunities (through teaching observation), exploring approaches to teaching, learning, curriculum development and assessment in both university and practice settings.
It is accredited by the Academy of Dental Educators, and graduates may apply for membership of the Higher Education Academy on successful completion.
The course has been designed with the diverse educational roles and responsibilities of dental educators in mind and focuses on how you can develop an informed approach to the design, delivery and evaluation of dental education and training, whether you are new to education or have considerable prior experience.
This course provides you with opportunities to develop a sound theoretical underpinning to the practice of dental education in its contemporary policy, professional and practice contexts. In doing so, it aims to foster the development of a full range of dental educator skills, providing you with opportunities to engage in a range of work-related professional development activity.
