Course summary
Students on the programme will consider the challenges faced by those setting up and running a business in a rural area.
In a changing world, we recognise that business has to adapt and become part of the solution, rather than the problem by taking responsibility for people and place. Our programmes have sustainable and ethical thinking at their core, and our learners challenge existing business models and debate business solutions for a more sustainable future.
Our students are part of a community of students and staff where small group problem-based learning enables them to gain the skills required to creatively solve the business problems of the future.
Course Overview
If you want to be ready for the future of business and be able to respond to both global and local challenges and opportunities then these innovative programmes, built on ethical and sustainable principles are the choice for you.
As a student at UWTSD’s Carmarthen Business School, you will be part of a supportive learning community with enthusiastic, research-active staff who endeavour to help you maximize your time at UWTSD. We have a progressive and transformational approach to learning that builds independence and self-determination in our learners.
As part of your studies, you will have the opportunity to undertake an internship, engage in fieldwork and benefit from a range of guest lectures from entrepreneurs and business leaders. We have links with a wide range of organisations, many of whom offer the opportunity for our students to engage in live project work as part of their studies
Career Opportunities
Our graduates progress to a range of areas within the public, private and voluntary sectors in areas such as sustainability leadership, financial management, marketing, community sports development, project management, community development and regeneration.
Graduates may use their new skills and experience to further develop their community sport organisation, this could include new focus, expansion or transformation.
An emphasis on entrepreneurship and innovation within the programme has also meant that a number of our recent graduates have left to successfully set up their own enterprises and Carmarthen Business School is proactive in signposting students to internal and external support for business development.
