**Course summary**• Gain the knowledge and skills you need to image the musculoskeletal and soft tissue systems of the body.• Enter the profession ready to use and contribute to research and evidence.• Study a course accredited by the Society and College of Radiographers (ScoR) and the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).Diagnostic radiographers use the latest imaging technologies and techniques to produce images of the body to diagnose diseases. On this course, you’ll work and collaborate with a range of healthcare professionals, and gain the skills and registration you need to enter this rewarding area of healthcare. When you graduate, you’ll be eligible to register as a diagnostic radiographer with the HCPC.Diagnostic radiographers are an integral part of a multi-professional team. On this course, you'll find out about the teamwork and understanding required to provide excellent care throughout the patient journey.You’ll learn from other students and practitioners across a range of healthcare professions. These include therapeutic radiographers, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, social workers, operation department practitioners and occupational therapists. This distinctive curriculum enhances your employability skills, helping to challenge and develop you in becoming a vital allied health professional in an ever changing workplace. You'll study academic modules, while gaining placement experience in range of practice settings.You learn through• lectures• guest speakers• seminars• group work• practical activities• simulation in imaging, ward and theatre suites• image interpretation activities**Applied learning****Work placements**You will learn to apply the technical and interpersonal skills on structured clinical placements at certain points throughout each academic year.You’ll be based in at least two imaging departments from our placement sites for the majority of your clinical training. You’ll also have experiential placements in other hospital areas to support your holistic understanding of the patient's pathway.Placement sites include the following: Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching hospitals, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, United Lincoln Hospitals NHS Trust, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & Northern Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust**Accreditation**This course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Graduates are eligible to apply to register with them and also apply to become members of the Society and College of Radiographers. You must be registered with the HCPC in order to practise as a diagnostic radiographer in the UK.
