Course summary

Equip yourself to navigate the challenges of digital innovation within engineering management and lead effectively in this ever-evolving landscape – on this one-year accredited Digital Engineering Management MSc at UCL. Across and beyond the built environment sector, there’s a pressing need for leaders and managers with advanced understanding of how digital technologies shape and are shaped by organisations, projects and supply chains. On this master’s, you’ll gain the knowledge and tools to bridge this ongoing digital gap. Working alongside leading academics at UCL’s top ranked Bartlett School for Sustainable Construction, you’ll explore how digitalisation impacts engineering management through a socio-technical lens, diving deeply into both theory and practice. Get to grips with the technologies that are revolutionising construction practices, like Building Information Modelling, mixed realities, big data analytics and blockchain, while examining their implications from a managerial standpoint. Throughout your year with us, you’ll cultivate the critical thinking and research skills needed to be an impactful decision-maker and problem-solver in complex projects. These, along with your suite of analytical, digital and leadership skills, will be highly valued by employers in all areas of the built environment and transferable to many related fields. Follow the latest research, build your network with experts in London’s thriving construction sector, and emerge confident and ready to use your analytical skills - whether you opt to stay in real estate or move outside it. If you’re already working in the built environment sector, this course will give you specialist skills and knowledge to step into leadership roles in digital engineering, project management or organisational management. It’s also an ideal next step from a degree in business and management, design and engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering and related numerate subjects, as a way to level up your career options. This programme is also available on a modular (flexible) basis, with a duration of 5 calendar years.
