**This new Higher National Diploma in Digital Journalism course has been developed in consultation with national companies and freelance professionals and is aimed at people who have a story to tell: potential reporters, investigators, influencers and marketeers are all welcome. Planned to run for the first time in September 2022, this course is currently awaiting final validation at the time of being published on UCAS (May 2021)****About the course**The course is informed by professional practitioners and you will investigate all of the growing and changing outlets for dynamic contemporary journalism: including sound, video and podcasts. You will identify the medium that suits you best in the context of traditional journalism, up-to-the-minute technology and contemporary ethical issues.HND Top-up modules may include:• collaborative project• advanced journalism studies• podcast production• documentary journalism• news and editorial• the web and app economy**Assessment**Assessment is continuous, being a combination of individual and group presentations, compiling research portfolios and online journals. There are no examinations.**Qualification awarded**Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production (Journalism)**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2022-23 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Your career and progression**After successfully completing the HND, you could Top-up to our BA (Hons) Digital Media Design, awarded by Nottingham Trent University or a similar course at another provider (subject to entry requirements) or enter into employment. Although Journalism is the main focus, some graduates choose to move in to allied careers in Advertising and Marketing as well as video production and page design.Digital Journalists work in many spheres of news or content gathering. You could be a reporter, editor, picture editor or photographer. Your knowledge of writing for the web will make a career in marketing a great option. Digital journalism has a global reach – you could be sending a story from your laptop around the world in seconds!
