Course summary
**Previously known as DTLLS, this course is designed for full and part-time teachers who hold a full teaching role. You’ll have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised full teaching award and work towards qualified teacher status in lifelong learning (QTLS).****About the course**You’ll develop skills to enable you to refine and improve your teaching and learning as well as use constructive reflection in order to enhance your continuing professional development.The course covers a number of topics including:• identifying and supporting individual student needs• learning theories• economic and political influences in the lifelong learning sector• curriculum design• behaviour management• reflective thinking• effective assessment**Assessment**A combination of traditional and innovative continuous assessment methods will be employed. These may include: reports; projects; essays; and case studies.You’ll also produce a professional development portfolio which focuses on teaching practice and involves lesson observations.The second half of the course is delivered in a more blended approach with a mix of classroom attendance and online work.**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2021-22 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Your career and progression**DET qualifies you to teach in the lifelong learning sector and gives you an opportunity to apply for QTLS status through the Education and Training Foundation.Under current regulations, a person with QTLS status and membership of the Education and Training Foundation will be recognised as a qualified teacher in schools. You could also progress to a BA (Hons) or master’s degree in education.
