Course summary


Do you love drama, theatre and performance? Are you fascinated by how performance is created and how it relates to contemporary issues?

If you’re inspired by the process of making theatre and performance as well as studying the history and social context, then this BA (Hons) Drama and Performance degree is for you.

You'll study drama in all its forms, and make and perform in physical theatre, fringe productions, and promenade performance. In year 2, you'll also choose optional modules that allow you to study what you're most interested in, and design your own path.

What you'll experience

On this degree, you'll:

  • Study the history of theatre and drama, and apply what you learn to new productions
  • Hone your acting skills, with workshops and projects to help you develop your performances
  • Learn about technical theatre, including lights, sound, scenography, set, direction, and stage management
  • Practice your new skills in brand new facilities, kitted out with studios, lighting rigs, and video and music suites
  • Take part in making a range of productions, including physical theatre, fringe theatre, applied theatre, and promenade performance
  • Be taught and inspired by internationally recognised teaching staff and benefit from their expertise and experience in the industry
  • Get professional input from local theatres as you create your own theatre company
  • Get insight from guest speakers about their experiences in the world of theatre production.
