Course summary

Our BA (Hons) Drawing degree is a unique opportunity to develop a distinct drawing practice at a time when drawing is garnering a great deal of interest. The immediacy and expressiveness of drawing are valued by contemporary audiences and by artists who recognise it as a potent mode of practice. The diverse contexts of drawing, both within and outside traditional fine art, and its relationship to both thought and movement make it an intriguing subject for study. The course begins with a significant taught element and develops into self-directed study for the graduating suite of courses. Your experiments with the materials of drawing and approaches to it will be underpinned by an understanding of drawing in its many contexts.Throughout the course, you ‘ll be assigned a specialist tutor who will provide you with individual feedback on a one-to-one basis. As well as studying core units throughout the course, you’re free to choose from elective units to suit your own interests and aspirations. All OCA degree courses have a final module with a student-led focus on sustaining a practice to ensure that you graduate with a well-developed sense of yourself as a skilled practitioner.
