Course summary
Overview
Our Early Childhood Studies one-year top-up course builds on your previous early years study giving you the chance to complete an honours degree. So if you love children and want to work with them, this course will help to get you there.
Studying Early Years gives you the opportunity to work in a wide range of careers, such as:
- Children's Centre Worker
- Nursery Nurse
- Lead Practitioner.
This course is taught at The School of Education at our Harcourt Hill campus, a short bus ride away from Oxford city centre. And at four of our partner colleges:
- Solihull College
- Swindon College
- Abingdon and Witney College
- Wiltshire College and University Centre
You may wish to continue your studies through progression to Early Years Teacher (EYT). Or beyond to become involved in research or academia.
To apply for this course you will have completed the foundation degree in Early Years. Or equivalent Level 5 sector-endorsed qualification foundation degree.

QUALIFICATION TYPE
A level :
Acceptable passes in five subjects (exceptionally four subjects) at GCSE or GCE including: one 12-unit vocational A-level, or two A-levels or two 6-unit vocational A-levels, or one A-level or 6-unit vocational A-level plus two AS-levels, or two 3-unit vocational A-levels * (* where these are included they need to be in subjects other than those held at A-level). Only GCSEs at grade C and above are acceptable.
