Course summary
This foundation degree (FdA) prepares you for work with young children. You’ll combine theory with practice, learning from professionals who’ve worked with children in a variety of education and early years settings. Specialist guest speakers extend the experience by bringing viewpoints from many differing situations. Your studies will also include gathering information, observations of children and work processes, and learning how to plan. You’ll also look at how important play is to a child’s development. You will study early childhood researchers and theorists, staying updated on current government perspectives and practices. This foundation degree prepares you for work with children from 0-5 years. You can then progress to complete a full honours degree in just one additional year. Your undergraduate degree could also lead to postgraduate qualifications, such as primary teacher training (PGCE/School Direct), early years' teacher (EYTS) training and Masters degrees.
