Course summary

If you are finding it hard to decide between two subjects you enjoy, you could tailor your degree with a combined honours course. Variety, flexibility and a chance to maximise your employability are just some of the advantages on offer when you choose to study a combined honours degree. And Canterbury Christ Church University offers one of the widest selection of combined honours degrees in the UK.**Early Childhood Studies**The development and growth of children during their early childhood is extraordinary as they grow from babies, completely dependent on care, to children able to act for themselves. This course explores the extraordinary time in children's lives from before birth to approximately eight years old. We examine the factors and experiences that shape their early development and growth. We look at early childhood from a range of perspectives - including psychology, education, health, sociology, law and science - so that you will be well placed to act as an advocate for young children within a range of professional disciplines upon graduation. As part of the course our students are offered opportunities to consider cultural differences in early childhood development. They are also offered practice-based experiences so they can observe in practice how professionals can impact on how young children develop and grow.**Psychology**Understand thoughts, emotions and behaviour, and explore a fascinating subject on a course that has employability embedded within it from start to finish. You’ll gain insight into the practical application of psychology and build a broad range of academic, personal and careers skills. Our degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) ensuring quality, and gives you the opportunity to gain the BPS Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. Your degree is a great springboard into a career in the caring professions, education, business and management, or other people-focused occupations.
