Course summary

The International Foundation Year (IFY) is designed for students whose first language is not English. The IFY will prepare you for both your English language level for entry and also for content knowledge you will need to begin the BA/BSc course. Once you have successfully completed the IFY, you are guaranteed a place onto the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree course at the University.Our foundation year option enables you to join the BA Early Childhood Studies course even if you don’t have the formal qualifications or experience to meet the standard entry requirements. The development and growth of children in their early years extraordinary as they go from babies, completely dependent on care, to children able to act for themselves. This course allows you to explore this exciting period of life, looking at childhood from the perspectives of psychology, education and health, through to law and science. As well as placement opportunities, there is the chance to go on trips and study cultural differences in early childhood development. Whilst this course runs as a singe honours degree, you have the flexibility to combine it with another subject.
