Course summary

Economists are regarded as great problem solvers, highly analytical, numerate and able to make sense of large amounts of complex information. This degree will enhance your knowledge of economic theory, whilst developing the transferable skills that will prepare you for a great graduate career. Our Economics with International Finance and Banking course uses the threshold concepts of economics to critically analyse decisions involving the participants, institutions and instruments of finance and banking. You will compare the different interpretations of contemporary economic issues and events and the lessons that can be drawn.You will focus on applied Economics, training you to think like an economist from day one. You will learn about the important role of finance and banking in affecting investment and growth and develop the crucial tools and techniques of financial analysis, investment and portfolio management.100% of full-time BA (Hons) Economics with International Finance and Banking students would recommend studying at NTU (National Student Survey 2020). During your second year you'll have a variety of unique opportunities to get involved in such as studying abroad, enterprise project or an internship. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in business challenges, volunteer opportunities and guest lectures from business leaders throughout the year. As an Economics student, you’ll have access to our unique Business Lab facility. With 12 double-screen workstations, the room gives you a simulated experience of working in the fast-moving world of shares and trading. You can access sophisticated analysis tools and Bloomberg Terminal data on worldwide financial markets.Nottingham Business School at NTU is EQUIS and AACSB accredited and ranked in the Top 20 in the UK for Economics in the Guardian University Guide 2021.
