This four-year course with an integrated foundation year leads to the same qualification as our three-year honours degree. It has been specifically designed for those wanting to undertake degree-level study but who may not meet the entry requirements or have traditional qualifications.The Foundation Year (Year 0) offers you the chance to expand and strengthen your confidence, skills and knowledge – ensuring that you are well-prepared and qualified to progress into Year 1 of the BSc (Hons) Economics programme.A degree in Economics will help you gain an insight into how economics improves our understanding of how the world functions. You will develop valuable analytical, numerical, data analysis and problem-solving skills helping you to understand how people, firms, institutions and governments make decisions, and the implications of such decisions on individuals, businesses and society.During the foundation year you’ll develop essential academic and IT skills, such as writing, communication, presentation and how to use digital resources to support your studies and research assignments. You will get a taste of studying within a multidisciplinary School, working with foundation students from a range of other subjects, including accounting, management and marketing. ‘Placement Year’ and 'International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
