The programme will enable you to engage in critical reflection on your own experience and perception of coaching and mentoring. It will help you to develop your practice as a coach or mentor whilst gaining theoretical knowledge and understanding of the subject leading to an accredited qualification at Level 7.
Teaching methods include a combination of lectures, group seminars, workshops and individual tutorials.
Modules are taught either on Saturday Schools (approximately monthly), study days in the school holidays or fortnightly twilight sessions.
Learning is assessed through a variety of methods:
- Reflective journals
- Case studies
- Seminar and conference presentations.
A mentoring and/or coaching relationship will be a vital component of the course to enable reflection on practice. This can be voluntary. Further details regarding this can be discussed upon enrolment.

A range of skills are covered within this course that will support the development of all practitioners, particularly those seeking roles in middle and senior leadership, as well as those seeking to work in consultancy.
This course will enable members of the teaching profession to meet the requirements of the Early Career Framework by developing their understanding and application of coaching and mentoring both on a personal and organisational level.
