Course summary

Overview

The MA Education is designed to enhance your professional practice and help you make improvements which will make a positive difference either within the classroom or your particular work environment.

The MA Education Leadership and Management programme will enable you to examine education leadership and management theory, practice and research in relation to a range of local, national and international contexts. There will be a particular focus upon the leadership of learning and the assorted technologies and techniques that seek to change and enhance learning outcomes and processes.

We believe our strengths are:

  • A strong foundation in both educational leadership and management in ways that will connect strongly with the previous and future professional experiences of students
  • The specific establishment of educational leadership frameworks that students will be able to readily apply to professional contexts
  • A module that focuses on issues of educational leadership from a policy perspective (EFPM910: Education Policy)
  • An elective module covering a variety of areas (such as creative arts, SEN, etc.)
  • A relatively small number of modules enables students to have a less stressful and easier to manage learning experience.
  • The possibility of placement

Our programme is ideally suited to applicants who have some leadership experience in education and would like to develop their educational careers by taking up leadership positions. In the core leadership modules there will be a specific emphasis upon leadership in different contexts, including China for example, and students will be asked to explore leadership within professional contexts with which they are familiar. This could include specific exploration of educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities as well as NGOs.

Learning and teaching
