Course summary

Educational psychology draws on a wide range of psychological theories and real-world experiences to build an understanding of how children develop and learn. It takes into account the social and cultural contexts of children’s lives and schooling, as well as their individual growth and development. Our course covers all core elements of psychological study as required by the British Psychological Society (BPS), from lifespan development, biopsychology, and research methods, to social, critical and individual differences. Alongside, you will cover specialist education-based modules that will explore how children learn, special educational needs, individuality and diversity in education, as well as focussing on social, emotional, and mental health aspects of young children. Furthermore, key psychological theories, principles, and policies in the context of education, society, community, and culture will be covered. This course has been submitted to the British Psychological Society (BPS) for professional accreditation.
