Studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering puts you at the centre of a vibrant and fast-moving discipline of relevance to industries such as electronics, information technology, manufacturing, energy generation and supply, transport, and communications.This course includes the opportunity to take a year of industrial placement between your second and third years of academic study. With this option we will support you in finding a placement that will allow you to experience at first- hand, a professional working environment. If you are successful in securing a placement you will be paid a salary and will enhance your employability skills through direct experience of working in business, industry or the public sector.The course is reviewed annually with input from our industrial partners to ensure that the modules taught are at the cutting edge and reflect the current state of the industry.Note that if Chartered status is important to you a Cardiff MEng course may offer a quicker, more direct route than the BEng course.Other Cardiff University Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses available may include:•A fast-track towards attaining Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology if you choose the MEng course.•The opportunity to follow a sandwich year in industry is also available if you choose the relevant five-year MEng degree option.•The opportunity to study abroad at a partner institution for one semester if you choose the relevant MEng (International) degree option.Distinctive featuresThe distinctive features of the course include:•The opportunity to learn from leaders in their fields, through direct access to academic staff, many of whom are Chartered Engineers or have worked in industry.•The opportunity to obtain industrial experience as part of your degree that can help you stand out and compete against other graduates.•This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Technology (IET).•Cardiff University is one of the few universities to be part of both the UK Electronics Skills Foundation and the Power Academy, organisations dedicated to promoting careers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which offer scholarships on a competitive basis along with training opportunities, and enhanced career prospects.
