Course summary

Electrical engineering is concerned with power generation and transmission and electrical machines. Electronic engineering deals with systems such as computers, communication networks and sensors. Our programme will give you an in-depth technical knowledge of both, alongside hands-on experience to prepare you for real-world applications. Specialisations include power engineering, microprocessor design and communications systems electronics. While the focus is on electronic hardware design, you will also learn the foundations of programming, completing your set of technical skills.

In the final year, direct your studies towards your aims and interests as you choose from a wide range of modules. You’ll also tackle a topic of your choice in depth with a supervised individual project. This programme provides the specialist knowledge you will need for electrical and electronic engineering careers in industry, business and research and development. You could work in many sectors – transport networks, power generation, transmission and distribution, manufacturing, urban development, automotive and renewable energy.
