Electrical and Electronic Engineering HND

The purpose of the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals who are able to meet the demands of employers in the rapidly evolving engineering sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. This means that you will not only learn the necessary fundamental knowledge, but also more specialist skills such as programming PLCs or designing electronic circuits. You will also be exposed to very current subjects related to sustainability and renewable energy.In addition to academic knowledge this programme imparts practical skills in mechanical engineering (such as turning and milling) and electrical engineering (including measurement technology) and we will support you to gain work experience where you will develop your engineering skills further and also employability skills such as CV writing and interview preparation. These features have been added after consultation with employers.The qualification has the dual aim of preparing the students for direct entry to a range of technical and management careers (such as engineering technician, control engineer, electronic design engineer or approvals/production engineer) and of offering the opportunity to enrol on top-up degrees.
