Electrical and Electronic Engineering including an Industrial year MEng (Hons)

Course overview

Electrical engineers design and develop new technologies to generate and process power. The equipment they design is used in many industries; building, transportation, manufacturing, construction and power generation.

Electronic engineers design, develop, test, and oversee the creation of anything from drones and electric cars to the technology in smartphones, sat navs and systems in hospitals.

All our electrical and electronic courses have the same content in year one and two so by year three, you can choose the topics that interest you. A lot of the things you learn will be done in labs working individually and in group projects.

You will spend year four in industry. You can apply for placements available to students on your course or can agree your own placement with an appropriate company. During your industrial year, you remain fully registered with the University, with regular meetings with your tutor.

Year in industry

With the help of our dedicated team, you will spend your fourth year working in an industrial placement. You will get first-hand experience of the exciting challenges that are faced by engineers and refine the skills you have built so far in the course.
