Course summary

Take your place in the expanding and dynamic world of electronics on this accredited, respected course. You’ll learn the fundamental principles of electronic engineering and the programming skills necessary for modern embedded system design - all while developing an understanding of current practice in electronic system design, including microcontrollers and FPGAs, signal analysis and conditioning, and interfacing and communications. You can tailor your study to include various specialist topics according to your interests and ambitions - and when you graduate, you’ll have the skills and confidence you need to succeed as a modern graduate electronic engineer in industry. Employability is central to our degree provision and you will be taught the basic aspects of electronic engineering to ensure you have the skills required to succeed in industry. Course delivery allows for you to specialise in your chosen area depending on module choices, including digital design, signal processing, real-time systems, neural networks and communications. This ensures your studies are shaped to suit your career aspirations. You will have the opportunity to undertake a year-long industrial placement before your final year. This will be a great opportunity for you to broaden your practical work experience and to consolidate your learning. The invaluable industry experience will also be of great benefit when you return to UCLan as well as giving you a significant advantage in your early career development. Successful completion of the industrial placement module is recognised by the endorsement “with industrial placement” in the award title.You’ll enjoy access to world-class resources through the Advanced Digital Manufacturing Technology (ADMT) facility. An opportunity to experience state-of-the-art manufacturing hardware and software, including CISCO industrial networks, manufacturing execution systems and industrial robots.
