Course summary

Our mission is to discover how language is organised, how it is acquired and how it is used for communication. English is one of the most important and widely spoken languages in the world. You consider where English came from, its relation to other European, Middle-Eastern and Indian languages and how it became the majority language of the British Isles. You analyse how sounds, words and sentences are formed and examine the relationship between society and language. You explore the mental processes involved in language comprehension and production as well as language disorders.
