If you are interested in analysing a range of literary texts from various contexts and historical periods alongside exploring the complex relationships between literature, politics and history and develop your knowledge of a world language and you would like to spend a year abroad then this is the degree for you. Our English Literature and German degree programme offers you the opportunity to:• Combine intensive language tuition with optional modules relating to a wide variety of aspects of society and culture in the German-speaking world.• Spend your third year in Germany. You can study at a University, teach in a school or work in a business during your year abroad in Germany.• Cover literature themes from the early-Medieval period to the present day, while also developing your knowledge of critical theory and the diversity of approaches to literature.• Study optional modules in Gender and Culture with specialist researchers and lecturers.• Study optional modules in Creative Writing. Swansea is the birthplace of Dylan Thomas, widely regarded by many literary scholars as one of the Twentieth Century's most influential lyrical poets, and amongst the finest as such of all time.97% of our graduates are employed within six months of graduating according to the latest DLHE 2015 figures. Our Employability Officer supports our students with information and advice which is backed up by the University’s Careers Service and Work Placement Team.
