COURSE OVERVIEW

Our English Literature and German with a Year Abroad degree is an exciting and challenging course, which course opens up a range of career possibilities by helping you to develop transferable skills that employers value.

You can explore national and global literatures including Renaissance writings, Gothic and genre fiction, 19th century literature, contemporary fiction, gender and culture, creative and professional writing together with the language, culture, history, cinema and literature of modern Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

You can further enhance your career prospects by spending a year in Germany.

ENGLISH LITERATURE AND GERMAN EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Over 97% of our English Single and Joint Honours graduates are in work or further study six months after graduation (DLHE 2013/14).

Our English and German course graduates enter careers in a wide range of sectors including:

  • archives, heritage and museums
  • media and public relations
  • law
  • public services

Our career support services include:
