**Course Overview**- Step into Shakespeare on our new English Literature and History Foundation Entry course. You’ll approach history from different angles – including culture, gender and social.- Foundation Entry degree courses are ideal if you’ve got the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to directly join an honours programme. It’s a great stepping stone to a full degree.- On the literature side of this course you’ll study traditional literature alongside options such as American literature and culture, gothic, graphic novels, theatre, film, children’s literature and the fairy tale.- On the history side, you’ll explore issues of culture, social and gender across different eras and you’ll also get insights into international history and politics.**Why study with us**- Literature in English at the University is 1st in the North West and 2nd in the UK for academic support - National Student Survey (NSS) 2019.- Our School is home to researchers and including the internationally recognised Institute for Black Atlantic Research (IBAR).- Participate in a literary tours project - explore major literary centres including Paris and Venice, and the relationship between literature and place.
