Learn from world-class researchers and access literature and artworks in our university research library, on-campus collections and in galleries across Birmingham city. You’ll discover visual and literary themes through a broad range of perspectives, exploring global and culturally significant narratives and art. In this flexible degree, you'll explore art and literature from a wide range of perspectives. Gain transferrable skills – on this course, you’ll learn how to combine visual and textual analysis. Take advantage of the wide-ranging expertise within our academic community and explore the study of art, comics, film, marketing, music, social media, textual production, theatre, TV and video games. Make use of our internationally renowned Shakespeare Institute, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, collaborate with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and take part in fun and interactive study trips. Explore a city brimming with culture – Birmingham hosts many art venues and cultural festivals. You’ll find a thriving arts scene related to historic and contemporary art, at venues including Ikon Gallery and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, which houses the largest collection of Pre-Raphaelite artworks in the world. You’ll be assessed in different ways to suit each module. At the start of a module, you’ll be told how and when you’ll be assessed. Methods will vary but may include coursework (e.g., essays), group or individual presentations and projects, exams, reports or computer-based assignments.
