Course summary

Exploring the literature and languages of the British Isles and America and beyond, from the earliest written sources to the present day. Based in the School of Language, Literature, Film and Visual Culture, our research programmes in English are distinguished for research on canonical authors and on contextualising approaches to literature. We also have a strong tradition of textual scholarship. We have long standing links with other programmes, particularly History, Philosophy, Cultural History and Modern Languages. Our research areas pages have links to individual staff pages where you can find out more about the range of research being done here.We are open to discussing all potential projects with applicants, including the possibility of undertaking these via Distance Learning.
