Course summary

This programme develops the future generation of sustainability leaders and innovators who have the passion and skills to lead environmental partnerships and projects that deliver on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This programme is designed to address this need by training environmental professionals who can build effective partnerships across civil society, business and government to deliver sustainable development. You will be taught by experts in a range of fields, including energy transitions, coastal and marine management, land management, tourism and rural communities.

You will develop practical employment-ready skills such as grant preparation, policy development, working with communities, pitching, project evaluation and leadership.

As part of the programme, students undertake a Partnership Project, an independent and original piece of work that demonstrates advanced specialist knowledge in an approved aspect of environmental partnership management, carried out in collaboration with a supporting partner organisation/agency, including for example, Scottish or UK Government Departments and Agencies, Local Councils, Community Groups, Environmental Partnerships and Companies.

Students also have the opportunity to engage with government, civil society and industry and we have developed close relationships through research and teaching with key organisations, including Marine Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, UK Government Defra, Zero Waste Scotland, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Council and a range of local sustainability partnerships.
