Course summary
The emergence of modern Europe is a critical topic in todays society, and this degree enables you to gain a crucial understanding of the subject. The European Studies: Modern European Studies MA is an interdisciplinary programme that explores integration, competing nation states, governance and more. Taught at the UCL Centre for Multidisciplinary and Intercultural Inquiry (CMII), youll be equipped to explore a range of future career options. The Modern European Studies pathway focuses on the emergence of modern Europe, the political implications of integration, and its transition from competing nation states and forms of governance to an expanding political and economic union. Students take complementary optional modules, which may be national, regional or European in scope. Supervision and teaching is available from world-leading researchers from SELCS and CMII, with 83% of SELCS-CMII research activity being graded 4 ‘world leading and 3 ‘internationally excellent in the REF 2021.
