Course summary

Foundation Entry degree courses are designed for students who have the ability to study for a degree, but don’t have the necessary formal qualifications to enter directly onto their chosen Honours degree programme. Are you looking to put your organisational skills to good use? The UCLan Event Management degree is a vocationally oriented course designed for aspiring managers in the events industry. You will develop a wide range of professional and academic skills which you will then apply to organising live events throughout the course. We pride ourselves on knowing our students individually with course cohorts intentionally kept small, and our students are the only University team to have won the prize for ‘Best Student Event’ at the UK Event Awards for the past two years. Our links with key event employers ensure that our courses remain current and help to equip you with the skills, knowledge and experience that employers need.Graduates of the course are pursuing careers throughout the hospitality and events industry. Many are working for large international organisations whilst a significant number have chosen to work more locally in the UK hospitality and events industry. The transferable skills gained on the degree mean that many graduates also go on to careers as teachers, project managers and logistics managers. The continued growth of this sector will guarantee a wealth of opportunities over the coming years. You can enjoy an overseas field trip as one of your optional course modules. Recent destinations have included Barcelona, Cyprus and Cambodia, for the Green Gecko Project. In addition, we have international links with White Lodgings (Marriott) in the USA and many students have had placements with this organisation. You will also have the chance to undertake work experience with organisations such as Barnardo’s, RSPCA, Oxjam, Kendal Calling, Lytham Proms, Xtreme Storm, and Camp America.
