* Top up your current qualifications to honours degree level. * Specialise in events management in the leisure industry. * Graduate with sought-after, specialist skills alongside well-rounded academic knowledge. * Learn the specific skills needed to create memorable event experiences, demonstrating business value for employers and clients. This course allows you to top up a HND, foundation degree or equivalent in a relevant subject to a honours degree in events management. You'll work on real events and discover the roles that multi-purpose leisure and sporting venues play in the sector, graduating as an employable specialist with widely sought-after expertise.You will develop your skills through a combination of seminars and workshops, by attending lectures, and by completing projects. International and national field trips, site visits and work with external organisations enhance your engagement and understanding of the complexities and challenges of operating in the events and leisure industry.Other methods used include* live events * client consultancy * guest speakers * problem-solving exercises * case studies * individual and group presentations * directed learning activities **Applied learningLive projects**As part of this course, you will undertake a large consultancy based project worth 40 credits where you will design a solution to a real world event leisure-based problem. Pending your entry level criteria, you may execute and critique your own leisure-based event that you research, design, deliver and reflect upon, hosted in the city centre for real stakeholders.**Work experience**You have access to work experience opportunities across various event sectors (including the leisure sector) available from an online portal updated in real time, with roles ranging from local charity events to international festivals in Europe. Your modules will also feature visits in and around the region.**Field trips**There will be an opportunity to join field trips and site visits during the course that enhance your learning and given a practical application to knowledge gained in the classroom.**Networking opportunities**Our links with industry mean that you hear from a wide range of guest speakers. Previous guest speakers have included Martin Green of the London 2012 organising committee, Simon Graveling of Athens 2004, London 2012 and Sochi 2014, David Jamilly of Theme Traders, and Jon Hughes from KPMG.
