What is special about this course?

The HNC in Fabrication, Welding and Inspection aims to develop your ability to apply analysis and synthesis skills to the solution of fabrication, welding and inspection problems, and provides a range of communication skills relevant to the needs of incorporated engineers.

You will develop knowledge, understanding and skills in a range of core fabrication, welding, quality, materials and inspection systems technologies at Higher National level.

At the core of the HNC are the principles that underlie the fabrication and welding industry.

  • You will understand industrial practice in your local industry
  • The use of materials, and the effects of processes on their mechanical, physical and chemical properties
  • You will study inspection methods to allow you to make informed decisions on the quality and serviceability of manufactured products
  • You will also develop your analysis, synthesis, critical thinking, planning, organising, reviewing and evaluation skills
