Course summary
The fashion and textiles industry is constantly evolving to meet shifting customer values, new technologies and approaches to working. This degree programme will help equip you with the contemporary, specialist technical and professional skills to work as multidisciplinary practitioners in the fashion and textile industry.This programme has been designed for students who are passionate about both fashion and textiles and looking for a degree programme which will allow you to combine these two specialisms.You will be taught alongside both the BA (Hons) Fashion Design and the BA (Hons) Textile Design courses, with aspects of modules shared, so you will benefit from working alongside students on both the other courses, gaining extra invaluable insight into both the fashion and textile processes.Led by our dedicated and supportive course team, you will based in our ‘Red Shed’ where we have our specialist workshops and facilities. With your own personal workspace, you’ll benefit from being part of our vibrant and dynamic design studio community and be able to use the space to create individual designs.This course is 75% practice-based so you will have ample opportunity to develop your subject through a hands-on, experimental approach. This will involve access to workshops to support the design process.In our workshops, you’ll receive group and one-to-one teaching, working closely with lecturers, technicians and alongside fellow students. You will have access to specialist equipment you will need, both traditional and contemporary. You'll master materials, both through craft methods and using digital software, and have access to other cross discipline workshop facilities, including woodwork, metal, 3D printing, ceramics and more.Thanks to our proximity to London, you can visit some of the world’s best shops, galleries and museums for inspiration. You can work with designers in and around the capital, gaining experience in how to adapt to the challenges of working in a business. Students will have the opportunity to get noticed at our degree show and at our London exhibitions.
