Course summary

This course will give you the opportunity to study practical skill and theory of fashion and textile design through a series of workshops, lectures and seminars. Year one includes projects working with industry designers in fashion, textiles and textiles for interiors. You will be supported to complete a period of work placement. Year two includes specialising in fashion or textiles to design and produce a final collection. You will be supported to create a professional portfolio and exhibit your work at the end of year fashion show and /or exhibition. Subjects studied include: Drawing and surface pattern, Textile materials, techniques & concepts, Pattern cutting & garment construction, Computer aided design, Work-based placement, Research and critical studies, Textile and fashion design and realisation, Exhibiting work and portfolio development. Assessment is continual via assignments, course work, work-based learning, presentation and exhibition.
