Would you like to leave university with an industry-ready toolkit and a unique design identity? This course has an international reputation for creating highly-employable graduates. Explore how computer-aided design and emerging digital technologies are helping to innovate the fashion creation process, from idea to production.Students work on industry-led design briefs and competitions with some significant brands, including VF Corporation which encompass Timberland, Wrangler, Lee and North Face and Kingpins denim. Past students have secured internships at prestigious brands, including Givenchy, Viktor & Rolf, AF Vandevorst, Haider Ackermann, and Calvin Klein.The BA (Hons) Fashion course at Ravensbourne is about creating designers with industry-ready skills and a firm grasp of research and concept development methodologies. During the course students will discover and develop distinctive creative identity, honing the techniques and knowledge needed to make a mark in the fashion world. Students will work collaboratively across disciplines to learn how the latest 3D and design technology is helping to transform processes and innovate fashion creation.Students on the course are encouraged to think about their design signature from the start of their studies. Course leaders will work with each individual to oversee their growth as a designer. They will learn through a mix of practice and theory and will be supported by teaching staff and visiting professionals from the fashion industry.Using digital workshops, students are encouraged to explore new digital technologies such as 3D printing, digital knit, digital print, digital embroidery, laser cutting, access to body scanning, and the Lectra CAD/CAM design management system.Alongside mastering the latest fashion-tech, students will be taught to use industry-standard software such as Clo3D, Marvellous Designer and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. With access to the latest camera equipment and video editing software, Adobe Premier Pro, students will increase their awareness of different creative fields and learn the value of interdisciplinary exploration. Students can also explore our unique materials library, which hosts 1,500 material samples and an interactive table for further research. Launching in 2021, students will have access to The Institute for Creativity and Technology. This will be located next to Ravensbourne on the Greenwich Peninsula and will explore the interplay between creativity and technology. Recent collaborators include Samsung R&D, Digital Greenwich, YKK, Vodafone, BBC and Design Exchange Magazine.
