Course summary
Inspiring a new generation of ‘designers and makers’ to integrate design craft within an increasingly digital landscape.
Course overview
BA Fashion provides a professional environment, which invites students to engage with innovative approaches to design.
You will study in a climate of fast-paced and challenging industry-based projects aimed at developing creative responses.
Ultimately the course aims to nurture independent designers who are strongly motivated to develop their own individual identity.
Why study this course with us?
Our ambition is for graduates to be 21st-century designers and creative thinkers, highly prized by the creative industries that contribute considerably to economic growth.
The activities are predominatly studio based, and skill workshops strongly underpin practice-based make-and-manufacture activities.
Key lectures and seminars support learning and speakers from industry, and field trips to Paris and London provide industry relevance to theory and practice-based modules.
You will develop an individual visual language, and will be able to deal effectively with the innovative technological demands of an intensively competitive global marketplace.
Your learning will be supported within a setting that promotes critical intellectual growth, while provoking creative challenges and experiences, embracing fashion design as a viable career pathway.
Teaching methods
Our course is practice based and the majority of learning will be activity based within studio sessions, plus there are some theory-based seminars and lectures in appropriate settings.
Assessment
Assessment is via portfolio and project development leading to the creation of garments and accessories. These activities normally incorporate tutor and peer feedback to support the ‘work in process’ phase leading to submission of work for assessment.
Progression options
Should you decide to further your journey in Higher Education, we offer a broad choice of professional, internationally recognised qualifications. This can be a popular option for students interested in developing their knowledge within a specialist area, or gaining the necessary qualification to further their career.
