Course summary

The Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care will aim to develop your knowledge and understanding of health and social care and your cognitive, practical, professional and key skills.
You will learn to develop values and beliefs befitting professional practice in the health and social care workforce. You will also have an opportunity to engage with the challenges facing
professionals, service users and policy makers in the UK today.

Assessment

The assessment for each module will be 4,000 words or equivalent. You will be exposed to a variety of assessment methods designed to ensure that the content, outcomes and level of the modules are measured in a fair and transparent manner. Assessment methods will include reports, presentations, short answer exams, essays, case studies, projects, peer observations and reviews.


Career Options

The Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care will prepare graduates for a range of roles in the wider health and social care sectors, including the not-for-profit (voluntary), private and public sectors. As such, there will be a strong employability focus at all levels of the course. Learners will gain valuable experience during the work-based learning modules, and the programme team will invite health and social care practitioners, and other relevant personnel, such as managers, service users and carers, to contribute to course delivery. Completion of this course will prepare you for a career in health, social care, leisure or education and can also lead to a further degree in nursing, midwifery, occupational therapy, or social work.
