Course summary

Develop your practical skills as a filmmaker and writer. You'll explore film, television and writing in their critical and industry contexts under the guidance of our award-winning, industry expert staff. Study a broad range of genres within creative writing, film and TV - from nonfiction writing and prose, to children’s film and TV and documentary filmmaking. Your study will be guided by a team of published authors and global film industry experts including filmmakers, screenwriters and commentators. Learn the practise of writing and filmmaking, and enhance your practise with the literary and media theories behind these formats. Benefit from our wide-ranging networks and work-placements across the sector, preparing you for future employment as an adaptable, resilient and innovative leader in the industry. You’ll be assessed in different ways to suit each module. At the start of a module, you’ll be told how and when you’ll be assessed. Methods will vary but may include coursework (e.g., essays), group or individual presentations and projects, exams, reports or computer-based assignments.
