**BA (Hons) Film scored 100% overall satisfaction for NSS 2019.**Taught by practising experts, you’ll have access to professional high-definition digital film-making equipment in our state-of-the-art media academy and be taught by an experienced team of industry professionals.Solent University’s Media Academy is a hub for creative students at Solent, with three green screen TV studios, a large visual recording studio with capacity for 200 seated audience members and a range of radio and music production facilities. Our large edit suites feature Mac Pro computers and the full Adobe Creative Suite for editing, colour grading and special effects.Solent Creatives is our on-campus creative marketing agency, providing Solent students with the opportunity to work with businesses on real-life projects. Film students are invited to pitch for paid work, giving them the chance to gain valuable work experience, build a professional showreel and meet industry contacts. Students are also encouraged to write critical pieces for Diegesis, Solent’s student-led film and TV analysis magazine. This helps students to graduate with a portfolio of published written work, perfect for supplementing a showreel.Solent has an established history of providing work experience opportunities for students throughout the summer. Previous students have worked in a variety of technical production and crew roles at festivals including Glastonbury, Truck Fest, Boardmasters and Bestival.Solent is home to world-class equipment and media facilities including a Dolby Atmos cinema, fully equipped editing suites and a selection of modern production studios.**What does this course lead to?**Career skills are embedded throughout every level of study, and you will be supported to develop the key relevant and up-to-date industry and interpersonal skills ready for graduate employment. Involvement in live briefs, industry research, varied writing, presentation experience and bespoke careers advice will enable you to feel confident to enter a wide variety of professions within the creative industries.Suitable roles for graduates include: film director, producer, casting director, editor, film critic, advertising director, arts administrator, public relations executive, publisher, copywriter, teacher.**Who is this course for?**BA (Hons) Film is designed for students who aspire to careers in direction, production, screenwriting, casting, post-production, publishing, criticism, or teaching. Applicants do not necessarily need an academic background in film.The course offers flexibility in the split between creative practice and critical theory based learning, depending on option choices and assessment modes selected.
