**Course description** Our four-year BSc Finance course, with an integrated placement year, will equip you with the perfect balance of finance, economics, accounting and general management knowledge, to enable you to thrive in a high-pressured business environment. You’ll gain the skills, knowledge and experience to set you apart in the graduate job market.The specialist financial knowledge gained through this degree will provide you with excellent preparation for graduate entry into a finance related career and stand out from the crowd in one of the world’s most competitive industries. You’ll study key elements of finance including capital markets, derivatives, corporate finance, exchange rate risks, asset pricing and international finance.Our recent graduates have been successful in securing roles at well-known companies such as PwC, Deliotte LLP, the Bank of England and BDO LLP in roles such as Risk Assurance, Tax Analyst, Graduate Analyst and Audit Executive. **Key course benefits**• As part of your degree you’ll undertake a professional placement, gaining valuable practical experience in the field of your chosen subject area• 94% of students were satisfied with the teaching on their course (National Student Survey 2018)• Five years after graduating, employed Aston business graduates earn an average of £35,900 (Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO), 2018)• Accounting and Finance at Aston is ranked Top 30 in the UK (Guardian University Guide, 2020).**Course details**- Year 1 – You will study a range of topics, designed to give you a solid foundation for your business degree.- Year 2 - From the second year you will explore financial and management accounting in depth, participate in events organised in conjunction with accountancy firms, visit businesses, and undertake an interactive business game module. Subject areas include Financial Markets, Business Tax and Advanced Quantitative Methods.- Year 3 – This is when you will undertake a professional placement or choose an international study opportunity at one of our partner institutions. This year is compulsory for all UK and EU students.- Year 4 - In this year studies are taken to a more refined level, similar to a professional qualification standard, whilst retaining theoretical analysis. Subject areas include Investments, Derivatives and Risk Management.
