Overview

The University of Worcester has expert practitioners and employers running and teaching on the course and supporting students. The facilities from; a dedicated crime scene house, state of the art evidence detection and analysis instrumentation, to our human bone collection, allows students to work with apparatus and scenarios as if they were working within their chosen role. The impressive links with employers entitles students on this accredited course, to work on real world case examples and research projects. Because of the unique make up of this course students enviably can secure employment within a range of police and forensic arenas. Additionally due to the core biological content graduates can also pursue opportunities such as further study, teaching, medical and a host of biological careers. Our employability rates are excellent and several of our graduate’s volunteer to come back and talk to current students about their impressive careers and how the Forensic and Applied Biology course has assisted them to develop and succeed in their chosen field. Furthermore, we provide an exciting range of extracurricular events such as a search an rescue interactive away day, pathology museum trip, human bone collection trip and expert guest speaker talks.

The first undergraduate degree in the country to be accredited with them for the Forensic Archaeology Component Standard- Excellent facilities including research labs, crime scene simulation house, geophysical equipment for detecting concealed burials and crime scene investigation kits- Strong industry links with West Mercia and Warwickshire police, and the Severn Area Rescue Association- Highly experienced staff with over 100 years combined experience in the field, giving you access to realistic scenes and real cases- Graduates successfully compete for both biological and forensic careers
