Course summary
**Course Overview**- Combine a passion for solving crimes with advanced technical skills on our fascinating MComp Forensic Computing and Security course.- IT makes commerce and industry more efficient and effective, but also encourages and hides many crimes. Organisations can become vulnerable to cybercrime, while the fact that the internet crosses international boundaries can pose problems for police forces based in individual countries.- Forensic analysts play an important investigative role, using systematic methods to preserve, collect and analyse digital evidence to reconstruct or anticipate crimes. They use sophisticated tools to investigate an interpret the evidence and present results clearly and fairly.- During this course you’ll develop an in-depth understanding of hardware, operating systems and communications software while demonstrating advanced investigative and problem-solving skills. As a forensic analyst in the making you’ll acquire a high level of technical expertise, an understanding of computer-related crime, an appreciation of relevant law, a methodical approach to investigation, and the ability to explain complex technical ideas simply.**Why study with us**- Take part in our Evidence Acquisition Challenge, where an industry expert will challenge you to gain access to digital evidence from old, obsolete devices.- This course has Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) accreditation leading to professional membership of the British Computer Society (BCS), the Chartered Institute for IT.- You’ll get to the option to undertake a 48-week placement in industry in-between your second and third years, enabling you to consolidate your learning and boost your career prospects. **Further Information**- This is a four-year MComp Forensic Computing and Security degree which offers you an optional additional sandwich year in industry. Our MComp option leads to an integrated master’s degree.- We also offer a shorter BSc (Hons) Forensic Computing and Security degree, which lasts for three years. The course content is largely the same, but the MComp option includes a further year of more advanced specialist study.
