Course summary
This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC/D programmes. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress to the second year of the HND. Following achievement of the HND, you can progress to the third year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. Applicants already holding a relevant HND qualification can apply for direct entry to year three, again where this is the case please make sure you choose year three when completing your application.The BSc (Hons) Forest Management is a highly practical course that will give you all the skills and knowledge you need to become a successful forest or arboriculture manager. If you are looking for a rewarding career where you can provide professional advice to the land-based forestry sector and help secure our forests for future generations to enjoy, then this course is for you.You will study at the Scottish School of Forestry campus of Inverness College UHI where you have the option to specialise in either forest management and conservation, or arboriculture and urban forestry. The degree builds on the industry recognised HNC/D Forestry or Arboriculture and Urban Forestry in the first two years.Forestry students must undertake a one-year industry placement during the course and will therefore study the degree for a duration of five years.A significant proportion of your work will be fieldwork-based projects where you will become experienced in the practical aspects of your chosen speciality. When you graduate you will have a technical management qualification and be experienced in all aspects of sustainable management in relation to forestry or arboriculture.This course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Foresters and gives partial fulfilment of Professional Membership Entry.

A level : DD
For HNC Forestry a minimum of one year's pre-course experience in woodland environment is required or attainment of the Certificate in Forestry or Conservation Skills.
