Course summary

Course Overview:

The course is for you if you are interested in following a career in Architectural Technology and require a Foundation Degree to progress to higher academic qualifications and/or to enhance employment prospects in this field. It includes 400 hours of work placement in the second year of the course. Ulster University validates the Foundation Degree and successful completion, depending on grade, permits entry into the second year of the linked degree course at the University.

Modules of study include:

Sustainable Construction; Mathematics & Structures; Emerging Technologies and CAD; Environmental Science & Materials; Construction Surveying; Law & Construction Contract; Building Services & Renewable Energy; Maintenance & Adaptation; Work Based Learning; Architectural Technology; Architectural Graphics & Project; CADD Applications; Design Principals & Procedures.

The course articulates to the second year of Ulster University’s BSc Hons in Architectural Technology & Management, with a further two years of study required. It allows suitably qualified candidates to complete a BSc Hons Degree within the same four-year period as candidates who enrol directly with the university in year one. The course is structured so that students who do not progress to the second year can exit with a CertHE validated by Ulster University following successful completion of the first year of study.
