Course summary
Course Overview:
This course is designed to prepare you for a range of technical and management careers in the Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Environmental Engineering and Built Environment sectors. It is also designed to prepare you for immediate employment on the major upcoming infrastructure projects such as the A5 and A6 roads. The course will prepare you for either employment in the industry with design consultants; or entry onto degree courses in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Environmental Engineering; or on site with contractors or with statutory organisations.
This course may enhance promotion prospects for those already in employment. A period of work placement with industry is undertaken during the Foundation Degree. The programme provides the skills to work in a challenging and rewarding industry on a range of projects, e.g. highways, transportation, water and waste, building structures and renewal energies.

Civil Engineering Technology; Introduction to Surveying; Civil Engineering Computer Aided Design & Emerging Technology; Mathematics 1; Science & Materials; Structural Mechanics; Communication; Geology & Soil Mechanics; Measurement and Costing; Fluids & Hydraulics; Structural Analysis & Design; Civil Engineering Contracts Management; Civil Engineering & Digital Surveying; Mathematics 2; Work-based Learning.
