Portuguese is the seventh most widely spoken language in the world, and the cultures of countries such as Brazil and Angola are complex and fascinating. You will achieve a high degree of fluency and accuracy in written and oral registers in both French and Portuguese, and will study the history, literature and culture of countries where they are spoken. Many students find that studying two languages makes them stronger linguists.In language classes you will develop speaking, listening, reading, writing and translation skills using a range of textbooks, media and internet resources.You will spend half of your third year in a French-speaking country and the other half in a Portuguese-speaking country, undertaking study or work placements.
