**Course Summary**Every golf club in the world today has the potential to be a socially responsible, resource efficient business set in an ecologically rich landscape. However, in order to achieve such aspirations, today´s modern golf industry managers need to be dynamic problem solvers, who can lead teams and direct resources to meet an ever more demanding and ever-changing world of golf. Furthermore, fundamental understandings of the natural environment and sustainability issues are a pre-requisite for senior management positions.Our major focus is to maximise employability for all of our graduates. Therefore the learning experience is designed with developing decision making skills, building self-confidence and taking leadership responsibility in mind. In addition to our industry supported curriculum, for those wishing to gain work experience related to their studies at a range of world-class venues, we facilitate global positions.We welcome those who wish to make a decisive step towards advancing their professional careers and contribute to the game worldwide.This course is designed to help you develop the skills you'll need to begin a career as a golf course manager. It will give you a sound knowledge of greenkeeping practice, as well as teach you how to manage both human and financial resources.You will learn management skills specific to golf facilities, as well as the biological management of the course itself through modules on soil science and plant protection. Our Elmwood Campus in Cupar is less than 10 miles from St Andrews and we take full advantage of our wonderful and unique geographical position to combine classroom based activities, with visits to a range of golf courses, sports turf events and input from visiting industry professionals. This course is available by Distance Learning for greenkeepers and course managers in full or part-time employment who would like to continue their studies but are unable to attend college.You will develop a sound base of managerial skills relevant to the management of golf facilities. You will also gain specialist knowledge relevant to the biological management of a golf course such as soil science and plant protection.**Course Modules**Example modules include: • Understanding Golf Tourism• Contemporary Golf Industry• Managing Structures and Non-Turf Areas on a Golf Course• Project Management• Managing Turf Playing Performance• Human Resource Management• MarketingOn completion of the HND, graduates may choose to apply for year 3 entry to the BA (Hons) Rural Business Management programme which is delivered at our Aberdeen campus. Our Modules are assessed using a range of assessment methods which will develop your academic skills as well as workplace specific ones. Assessments will include: case studies, reports, portfolios, oral presentations, multiple choice and short answer questions.
