Course summary

Learn to create innovative and effective visual communications using a variety of physical and digital media. You’ll develop the practical and critical skills of a graphic artist and use research insights to guide your design. After the first semester you’ll choose to specialise in either graphic design, illustration, motion design or photography.Our facilities include large scale flatbed printers; letterpress and screen printing facilities; 3D scanner and printer; Risograph digital printer; book-binding facilities; the latest photography technology and studios; and motion design software.Input from creative professionals ensures this course is at the forefront of current practice, helping you identify the right career path and build your networks. You’ll hone your professional skills working on live briefs and design projects across print and digital media. You can even get involved with our award winning in-house design studio, Studio 3015.As part of your degree you’ll visit studios, galleries and cultural spaces, attend lectures and workshops by leading design studios, and exhibit your work at our degree show and London showcase. We’ll also encourage you to prepare entries for prestigious international competitions, such as the Penguin Student Design Awards and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Student Design Awards.
