Our Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) degree course is designed to help you develop the confidence, knowledge and skills required for a professional career in the health and social care sector. The programme is aligned to the standards specified by Skills for Health (the Skills Council for the NHS) and on completion of the course you’ll be able to demonstrate to prospective employers that your advanced skills conform to the National Occupational Standards (NOS).Our Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) degree will equip you with skills to analyse important public health and social care issues. The course is informed by current and expected changes in the UK healthcare sector, including advances in healthcare technology, quality concerns and the rising cost of providing care. During your seminars and lectures we’ll place a unique emphasis on London and urban health, where we face the biggest health and social challenges.We’ll employ a comprehensive approach to study, looking at care and its clinical implications holistically to provide you with a wider set of health and social care career opportunities after graduation. In addition to acquiring knowledge in public health, health promotion, policy and ethical aspects of care, you’ll also gain transferable skills that are useful for postgraduate study and those that are sought after in a range of professional careers. You’ll develop your ability to use evidence to inform your decisions, acquiring skills in observation, enquiry and critical analysis.Our teaching is underpinned by current research and you’ll be taught by lecturers who are experts in the field of health and social care. We’ll place a consistent focus on the application of theory to practice and teaching will be based on the need to develop your ability to deal with critical issues in the sector.The course is delivered using a blended learning approach through online seminars, case studies and video content. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a health and social care related work placement module, and although you'll be required to find a suitable placement yourself, our team will provide all the support you’ll need.
