Health informatics is the intelligent use of information and technology to provide better care, from big data to designing software used by clinicians, or apps used by patients. The vision of UCL Institute of Health Informatics is to conduct high-quality research that leverages health informatics approaches at local, national and international levels. We offer a diverse range of research opportunities in health data, information, and technology, reflecting the complex challenges within the field of health informatics. Our research degrees are supported by a robust and secure data infrastructure, enabling the transformation of key linked datasets into research-ready resources. We foster multidisciplinary methodological expertise, actively engage with patients, the public, and healthcare services, and maintain strong collaborations with academic partners at local, national, and international levels. Our programmes also provide outstanding multidisciplinary training, equipping researchers with the skills needed to drive innovation and impact in health informatics. This research degree provides training for those looking for a career in health informatics or health data science research, either in academia or in industry. It is offered full-time or part-time, the latter option being suitable for those who continue in employment while gaining a research qualification.
